Corey’s marriage proposal took place a year after he and his girlfriend Maggy visited the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. At the time they were living in NYC, but a year later they had moved to San Francisco. The date of Corey’s proposal was significant because Corey and Maggy had met three years earlier that day. “I always knew I wanted to propose in the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, but when we moved to San Francisco, it seemed like a long shot. When we were invited to a wedding in New Jersey around the time of my birthday, I knew I had my chance. I convinced her to visit the rose garden and later attend a ‘party’ to celebrate my birthday — little did she know, it was the proposal followed by our engagement party!”- Corey. Corey did an amazing job getting Maggie to the rose garden. It wasn’t hard to convince her because she loved the rose garden and was excited to visit again. Soon after entering the Rose Garden, Corey grabbed Maggie’s hand and dropped to his knee. She was completely shocked and elated! I was there photographing the whole thing pretending to be a tourist passing through who just happened to catch the moment ;)
The Brooklyn Botanical Garden here in NYC is a stunning park and is part of Prospect Park. Prospect Park is a beautiful park that is often overlooked when searching for unique proposal locations. Most people immediately think of Central Park, but Prospect Park is a great alternative if you’re looking to do something a little different. Also if your partner is an art fan, The Brooklyn Botanical Garden is adjacent to the Brooklyn Museum of Art!
